Daniel Barnes was a member of the College’s marketing group. He undertook this role voluntarily and gave generously of his own time. In this capacity, as part of an opinion panel, he helped to re-design the College logo, branding and prospectus. This involved meeting regularly to review and evaluate various options produced by the graphic design company we were working with. Daniel’s opinions and views were always expressed constructively and he was able to see and appreciate others’ perspectives.

In addition to his work on the prospectus, Daniel took a lead role in designing the College Newsletter, transforming it from a rather dull information based handout into an informative and eye-catching marketing tool that was widely circulated. Daniel worked independently on this project using his own initiative and responding to feedback from others. As a student member of the marketing group, Daniel’s contribution was invaluable as he was able to represent the student view whilst at the same time understanding the needs and opinions of other stakeholders such as parents and governors.

Daniel was reliable and thoughtful in his work and I hope that the experience will prove useful in his future career.

I contacted Daniel as our bakery urgently needed a long-overdue branding update, since a lot of our business comes from non-local customers and the website is often their first point of contact with us. After giving some brief guidelines and an explanation of what we wanted to achieve, Daniel came back with some excellent designs which clearly demonstrated not only great design ability but an absolute understanding of what we wanted and what is important to our customers. With the time difference between England and the West coast of Canada being as large as it is I didn’t expect a reply for a few days, however I not only had a response within 36 hours I had the designs too!

It was a pleasure working with Daniel and Pensive Design, I will certainly be using their services again in the future. I have already recommended Pensive Design to various contacts and will continue to do so.
